Congressman Mike Pence is obsessed with the latest boogieman concocted in the bowels of the conservative movement, the reinstatement of "The Fairness Doctrine." Thursday, Pence's blog linked to an article by Jack Thompson, warning of the doctrine's reinforcement.

Well, besides the inherent hypocricy of a known advocate of censorship whining about how the Fairness Doctrine would supposedly limit free speech (by the way, genius, there's an inherent flaw in your logic there, but I'll save that for next post), which Craig points out anyway, I have to wonder: Is it wise to get your opinions from a guy who, among other things, threatens people with legal action if they e-mail him and have any disagreement with his opinions, threatens people who donate to charity when he welches on an offer, walks out on his own disbarment proceedings in clear contempt of the court, submits gay porn as evidence that there's a conspiracy against him and thus makes it possible for anyone to see it while simultaneously claiming that the people he was submitting it with regards to are the ones making it available, and has a laundry list of other misuses and abuses of the legal system on his record? Is that really smart, Rep. Pence, to associate yourself with that level of reprehensible filth?

Oh, wait, you're a GOPper trying to keep other people's opinions out of the public square. It's natural for you.

Jack Thompson: Intellectually Devoid Scumbucket

Chris Matthews puts a boot right up Thompson's ass on this one. Maybe this will finally end his psychopathic rantings once and for all. Sadly, I put Thompson on the same level as Fred Phelps: A crazy bastard who believes his own crazy thoughts and believes himself to be the sole arbiter of truth. If you examine their rantings, Phelps and Thompson are strikingly similar.

I'm sure most people know the gist of this story by now. Woodlan Junior-Senior High School (part of East Allen County Schools) teacher Amy Sorrell was reprimanded for allowing an editorial into the school paper promoting tolerance of homosexuals. As reported in today's JG she is now going to be fired.

I can't believe this. They're railroading her, and for what? Printing an editorial in a school newspaper saying that people should be more tolerant - and then telling the truth about the people who wanted it censored. Like I said, I know I'm living in a backwards, hateful, bigot-filled, conservative, Bible-thumping shithole, so why do we need to regress further into the Dark Ages?

In Indiana, if you publish an article by a student in your school newspaper that advocates tolerance for gay people, you deserve whatever horrible consequences follow, and your supporters don't deserve a chance to speak.

ATLANTA -- A suburban county that sparked a public outcry when its libraries temporarily eliminated funding for Spanish-language fiction is now being asked to ban Harry Potter books from its schools.

Laura Mallory, a mother of four, told a hearing officer for the Gwinnett County Board of Education on Tuesday that the popular fiction books are an "evil" attempt to indoctrinate children in the Wicca religion.

Yes, it's this same dumb bitch.

I cannot believe the kind of bullshit this whore of a false god spews when she opens her filthy wordhole. How much you wanna bet she's never even cracked a book that didn't have a picture of a hatemongering Republican or Jesus on it? I've got some bucks in the bank I can put at stake; what about you?

A Gwinnett County parent is waging a war against Harry Potter. She says the popular book series should be pulled from libraries in the state’s largest school district.

Laura Mallory says the Potter books take kids to dark places.

“The books are indoctrinating children into witchcraft,” Mallory said. “It’s not mere fantasy.”

BAH HA HA HA HA! That's some funny shit right there!

Seriously, where's the proof? Haven't heard anyone but the Christian Right saying that bullshit. Where's the documented proof?

Here's a hint: There is none. Kids (and adults such as yours truly) aren't reading HP because of some desire to learn witchcraft. We read it because it's a damn good series.

Mallory has three children attending J.C. Magill Elementary School in Loganville, and is asking the school board to banish the books.

“I’m asking that they be removed from the school -- elementary school in particular -- because the young children are not as able to discern as older children,” said Mallory.

Now there's one of the biggest myths spread by the ban-heads. I've known children all my life, thanks to having a large family. Kids know what's real and what's not. The ones who don't are the exception rather than the rule.

So far, nothing but LIES from this woman.

Another parent, Amy Pryor, says the Harry Potter series got her daughter excited about reading.

“I just think it’s another way for people to censor a literary form of art,” Pryor said. “People want to say magic is so bad. Magic is just a way of imagination; a different way of somebody expressing themselves. If we continue to allow people to take books off of school library shelves, then we're saying it's okay to take books off the shelves of our public libraries.”

Review panels with the Gwinnett School District have ruled the books should stay in the system’s libraries, but Mallory is meeting with the school district next Thursday to appeal the decision.

Ah, the everything-hating Christians: the triumph of blind faith over facts and experience.

I've been reading the Harry Potter series since last year. So far, I've read all six books four times, and I'm on the edge of my proverbial seat for the conclusion.

And not once have I ever tried to fly on a broomstick, or try to make the Draught of Living Death, or tried to use sectumsempra to cut someone down. Nor have I heard of cases of children trying to do so.

This woman's a liar and a censor-happy bitch, plain and simple.
