Great Bouncing Limbaughs!
Amber and I were rolling around on the ground laughing at this. It's almost hypnotic.
Also, attention, MSNBC's code monkeys: IFRAME TAGS CANNOT SELF-CLOSE.

A Message to CNN
While covering the flap over President Obama's speech at Notre Dame, you hosted noted anti-choice terrorist Randall Terry and Catholic League head bully Bill Donohue.
I'm just wondering, when you talk of issues affecting African-Americans, do you try to get the Grand Dragon of the Ku Klux Kaln in to give his opinion? Based on who you like to give airtime to, it seems likely.

President Obama at White House Correspondents' Dinner
You really should watch this. It's good to have a Prez who's funny and not just a babbling moron.
And then, once you've watched that, watch this: Wanda Sykes tearing the GOP a new asshole immediately after.
Note that Sykes' comments are going to be the next GOP talking point. You heard it here first.

A Burger With a Side of Obama Derangement Syndrome
Dijon Derangement Syndrome: Conservative media attack Obama for burger order | Media Matters for America
That does it, I'm agreeing with Craig, the conservative movement is hereby dead and these are its last words.
SUMMARY: Sean Hannity, Laura Ingraham, and Mark Steyn criticized President Obama as an elitist because he ordered a burger with "spicy mustard" or "Dijon mustard."This? This is what they're reduced to?
That does it, I'm agreeing with Craig, the conservative movement is hereby dead and these are its last words.

Mike Pence: Fumbling Anti-Science Moron
From Pharyngula: Republicans can't even admit their anti-evolution leanings
That said, I once again register my insistence that I would never vote for him, solely because he is a dishonest, mendacious, lying, spineless, science-denying weasel.
Chris Matthews ask Representative Mike Pence a simple question — "Do you believe in evolution?" — and Pence spends 5 minutes squirming avoiding giving an answer. He changes the subject repeatedly, to global warming and stem cells, and tries to pretend that the Republican party doesn't have a serious problem with an anti-science agenda, which he himself is demonstrating.I remind all present - again - that I have never voted for this idiot, and wouldn't if I had the chance. I take no responsibility for his coninued infection of Washington with his particular brand of sheer, mind-boggling stupidity, his support of racist bigot radio hate-spewers, his war-mongering, his lack of tact and inability to show respect to those whose lives he indirectly helped end, his collaboration with the scum of the earth, his need for discrimination, &c.

On Local Radio
I was looking at 1190 AM WOWO's Program Lineup when an idea suddenly came to me, a realization of amazing proportions.
You and I both know (presuming you live around here) that WOWO is, by and large, Ft. Wayne's home for insane right-wing horseshit. That shouldn't be too surprising to anyone. What came to me is this: When the sanest program you have in your lineup is Coast to Coast AM, your radio station has some serious problems.

O'Reilly: Still an Eliminationist Bastard
From Think Progress: O’Reilly: If Cheney had ‘an assassination squad,’ he would have killed Seymour Hersh ‘a long time ago.’
You ever notice how wingnut "humor" always has an emphasis on killing people they disagree with and attacking anyone of a less-privileged position?
Anyway, this isn't surprising - O'Bastard isn't even a bit sorry about his hate and the role it's had in eliminationism. He's just going to keep doing this until someone holds him accountable.
In an Boston Herald op-ed today, Fox News’ Bill O’Reilly mocked Hersh’s claim, saying “If Cheney really had such a crew,” reporters like Hersh would have already been killed:One of the commenters at TP noted that this is part of O'Reilly's alleged "humor".The other day, left-wing muckraker Seymour Hersh went on MSNBC and said he had information, provided by the usual anonymous sources, that Dick Cheney was running an assassination squad out of the White House.(emphasis in original)
I have but one simple observation: If Cheney really had such a crew, Hersh would have been dead a long time ago, and so would most everybody at MSNBC.

You have to be fucking kidding.
... I pride myself on my ability to remain calm in the face of right wing insanity, but this? This manages to send me into a blind rage each and every time.
Things like this? Are only supposed to be exaggerations in movies, or Onion articles. You know? Satire.
But there it is. Large as life, and twice as real. At least Canada forced them to apologize. Even if it was just a shitty FauxNoise non-apology apology.
Nothing to LOL About
Our economy is in the tank and we're on the edge of destruction, but that doesn't matter, because Obama laughed.
The Israeli Defense Force is being accused of yet more war crimes, and their troops are buying shirts making light of and celebrating their own violent, savage tendencies, but that doesn't matter, because Obama laughed.
Our own troops are reveling in their own inhumanity, but that doesn't matter, because Obama laughed.
I'm not laughing. But it's not because Obama laughed.
Get your goddamn priorities in order.

It's the same old story...
...the same old song and dance, my friends.
First it was Fleischer saying that "Obama should be thankful that he inherited a world without Saddam Hussein" claiming that Saddam Hussein was behind 9-11 (but he DID inherit a world with AL QUAEDA and BIN LADEN and the people who were ACTUALLY RESPONSIBLE for 9-11...)and then backpedaling and claiming that that's "not what he meant" when called on his LIE.
Then it was Frank Gaffney, who spouted off a load of stale, steaming bullshit about how Saddam was behind every terrorist attack in the US from the first WTC bombing, to the OKLAHOMA CITY BOMBING (gee, I distinctly remember that guy being a FAR-RIGHT RACIST WHACKJOB AMERICAN...) to 9-11, along with crackpot conspiracy theories about how Saddam was prepared to attack the US with chemical weapons via... get this... PERFUME BOTTLES.
....are you people SERIOUS?
Seriously? SERIOUSLY?
...I think my brain just died a little...

Michael Steele: Gone, Baby, Gone
From the GQ Blog on men.style.com: The Reconstructionist
The truth is, I've formulated a very large, very paranoid theorem as to why this whole thing with Steele happened in the first place: Steele was put in as head of the RNC for an important reason: He's a sacrificial lamb. They knew that he wasn't the far-right demagogue you'd expect to be heading the GOP - why else would there be all this talk of Rushbo as "the de facto head" of the party? - and that his views weren't entirely in line with the major points of the party.
His election sent the racists into screaming fits, swearing that they'd leave the GOP and never return, because the party's main components know there's no follower quite as devout as the one who leaves and comes back. Steele's views, which the right's talking heads can spin as being "liberal", will be cited as the reason that they're putting together a vote of no confidence against him, conveniently whitewashing (if you'll pardon the expression) that the vote is being pushed by someone who became a Republican because the government desegregated his school.
Steele will be ousted, and the right-wing talking heads will claim it's a victory for "conservative values" over "liberalism", with the added coded message that they put a black man "in his place". This is also the main reason why I don't buy into the idea floated by some that the GOP won't oust Steele because it'd make them look like a bunch of racist crackers: their cover story is already written for them, thanks in large part to this interview.
Now, you can buy into all that, or you can just say, "Steele's got diarrhea of the mouth." Hey, either way, the result is the same. The difference is whether you're going to take the logical, succinct approach, or you're going to come up with a sprawling, meandering, half-baked conspiracy hypothesis like I did.
Do you think homosexuality is a choice?Wow. Just wow. Yeah, I'm wagering he'll be gone by this time next week at the latest. After this, they're really going to accelerate the process of throwing him out on his ass.
Oh, no. I don’t think I’ve ever really subscribed to that view, that you can turn it on and off like a water tap. Um, you know, I think that there’s a whole lot that goes into the makeup of an individual that, uh, you just can’t simply say, oh, like, “Tomorrow morning I’m gonna stop being gay.” It’s like saying, “Tomorrow morning I’m gonna stop being black.”
(...)
The choice issue cuts two ways. You can choose life, or you can choose abortion. You know, my mother chose life. So, you know, I think the power of the argument of choice boils down to stating a case for one or the other.
Are you saying you think women have the right to choose abortion?
Yeah. I mean, again, I think that’s an individual choice.
(emphasis added)

Goldberg and O'Reilly: Still Hateful, Eliminationist Bastards
From FOXNews.com, straight from the horse's ass: Bernie Goldberg Names 5 Worst Smear Merchants in Mainstream Media
You'd think Bernie and Faloofah wouldn't be so enthusiastic about naming off lists of people they hate, considering that their rhetoric was the reason why Jim Adkisson walked into a church during a children's music service and opened fire, but these are people that are entirely nourished by their hatred of everyone who isn't rich, white, and neo-conservative like them, and they don't really have anything resembling shame, souls, or intelligence.

Fox Noise: Still Bastards
Yet more of the Murdoch juggernaut comparing the President to a monkey. I figured that, after the rather large fallout from the "stimulus bill chimp" cartoon, they'd learn. Sadly, this shows they haven't even learned the big lesson from that.
2/18/2009
Holy Mother of God, They're Still At It
Hot on the heels of the "thug cartoon" from last week or so, from the Associated Press: NY Post cartoon seems to link Obama to dead chimp
The New York Post is standing behind a cartoon that some have interpreted as comparing President Barack Obama to a violent chimpanzee gunned down by police. The cartoon in Wednesday's Post by Sean Delonas shows two police officers standing over the body of a bullet-riddled chimp. One of the officers says the other, "They'll have to find someone else to write the next stimulus bill."Remember, this is the paper that referred to the Iraq Study Group as "Surrender Monkeys" for not buying into the Bush bullshit and made fun of Keith Olbermann for getting a fake anthrax letter (no doubt sent by one of their faithful readers).
That they not only publish something that any idiot could see as a load of racist garbage, but stand by it, defending it and lashing out at someone calling them on it, should come as no surprise at all. Of course the Post is standing by this - it's a far-far-far-right rag owned by Rupert Murdoch. It's Fox Noise: Dead Tree Edition.
We're a long way from a post-racial America. I understand that. And people like this hack of a cartoonist, and the slime at the Post who publish and defend it, understand it, too. The difference is in how we handle it - I work to overcome injustice, while these people try to promote it.
What scumbags.
EDIT, 7:12 PM, 2/18/09: The Opoponax in the comments of Pandagon's post on this makes a good point:
Wait, so now it’s perfectly OK for the Post to advocate the assassination of the President?
This would have got somebody sent to Guantanamo if it were published circa 2003-2004.

The video's right there if you'd like to see what yesterday's post was about, but let me warn you: You will get the urge to reach through the screen and slap that idiot Armey around.
Thanks to blueollie for pointing out the video.

Walking on Hot Air
Just watched Dick Armey on Hardball.
God, someone shut this man up - a Limbaugh-fellating, misogynistic, hateful, self-important, dismissive asshole par excellence. Bob Herbert opened up in the next segment by telling Chris Matthews that Armey needed to apologize for his garbage.
I can see why. Personally, if that jackass never sees another moment in the spotlight, I'd be glad. We need fewer people like him pushing garbage like that.

First the World's Worst segment from Countdown with Keith Olbermann, Monday, January 26, 2009:
And the statement mentioned therein: An Open Letter to Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and Michelle Malkin
Personally, I think we need more officials to stand up to these bullies publicly.

Beck + Dobson = Headache
From Pharyngula: You will be stupider after watching this
The plain truth of it is, if you actually follow the link provided after the video in PZ's post, you find that the ruling states and re-states that this has been determind, time and time again, to be nothing more than an attempt to establish religion as a part of daily school life. As much as they try to weasel out of it, this isn't about "reflection" or "silence", it's about trying to make everyone's kids pray to whatever Magic Sky-Man the teacher follows.
Ah well, at least Bonehead Beck, the deranged, hateful, lying scumbag, is on the "news" channel most in line with his spewings.
A hint: Glenn Beck. James Dobson. Together. This will rot your mind.I think I got through maybe a minute of this, and no more. Seriously, giving a weasel like Glenn Hack and a hateful douche like Jim "Show Your Son Your Cock So He Won't Be Gay" Dobson time on TV together is a recipe for a sudden spike in aspirin sales. And this whole thing, if you don't care to watch it (and I wouldn't blame you) is chock full of the same bullshit people like these love to push: "forcing atheism down our throats", "the Constitution says we can", "they wanna take God out of our country", "Christian nation", "they're sayin' kids can't pray", the whole bit.
They are complaining about a court decision that ruled that a 'moment of silence' rule in a public school was a veiled attempt to introduce sectarian religious belief into the classroom.

When the Mask Falls Off, Redux
Chris Matthews, leading into a commercial before covering El Rushbo's hope that President Obama fails: "Does Rush Limbaugh hate America?"
On the one hand, this may be the media finally feeling like it can speak out against the stone wall of right-wing hatred erected by folks like Rush the Comedian; on the other, it could very well be a way of ingratiating themselves as they did when Bush was in power. I should hope it's the former and not the latter - I don't think I could stand a media that remains as spineless and accomodating as before, just for someone else.

Even Newt thinks you're stupid.
From CNN: Gingrich to RNC: Drop Blago video, help Obama instead
In a letter addressed Tuesday to Mike Duncan, chairman of the RNC, Gingrich slams the committee for releasing a recent Web video that seeks to connect Obama to embattled Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich. When even Newt "Contract on America" Gingrich thinks the RNC is going too far, and just being destructive and divisive, there's a definite problem. Seriously, this attempt to tie Obama to Blago is just STUPID. The ONLY connection is that they're both from Chicago, that's it. Christ. From this point on, every Republican who's from the same city as a serial killer has to bend over backwards to prove he's not an accomplice. Or else "Questions still remain".
