Irony, Thy Name is Limbaugh

From Media Matters: Limbaugh Wire: 3/18/2009 Part II
LIMBAUGH: In the meantime, the new McCarthyism in Washington, D.C., this morning during a House Financial Services panel hearing. This is the Chairman Barney Frank.

FRANK [audio clip]: We will also be asking Mr. Liddy to give us the names of the recipients. They have sent us some information under the confidentiality rules. I've spoken to Chairman Kanjorski about this. If Mr. Liddy declines to give us the names, then I will convene the committee to vote a subpoena for the names. So we do intend to use our power to get the names of the people here.

LIMBAUGH: Contractually obligated bonuses -- Barney Frank and the new McCarthyism. He will go the route of a subpoena to get the names of the recipients if the government-installed CEO Ed Liddy does not provide the names. The next question that will be asked once these names have been produced -- and they will be -- then these people will be called up to testify before Chairman Frank's committee.
Uh, Limpdick? Subpoenaing people who are directly flouting basic morals and senses of human decency by saying they don't have to give back money that was not supposed to be theirs has nothing do to with McCarthy's "communist"-routing witchhunts. This isn't a case of "you'll admit you're a traitor and give me names, and by the way you're obviously a commie so your life is now ruined", this is "give the fucking money back NOW and stop covering for your rich-boy buddies who think they're above the law".

Then again, I don't expect him to understand it - to reich-wingers like Rushbo, McCarthy was a demigod, a man of impeccable character whose life-destroying accusations were just and correct, especially since we wanted to not be like Them Godless Reds. I don't think he'sconfused about this, though; I simply believe he's high on the Oxycontin again.

Remember, you can hear Limpballs' garbage on AM 1190 WOWO, Ft. Wayne's home for deranged revisionist horseshit.

Limbaugh misses lunch, starts swallowing own foot.

From the Boston Globe: Limbaugh: Healthcare bill will be named in Kennedy's memory
Continuing his criticism of President Obama, Limbaugh said Obama has "moved on to healthcare. This is highly visible, it's news-leading, gets a great focus, plus it has the great liberal lion, Teddy Kennedy, pushing it."

"Before it's all over, it'll be called the Ted Kennedy Memorial Healthcare bill," Limbaugh said on his show.

I don't know if I have words for this. It leaves me sick to my stomache in a way I didn't know even Limbaugh could do.

Rush... did you just more or less imply you're hoping Teddy Kennedy dies soon? Because that's how it comes off.

Jesus.

Republican love affair with Rush Limbaugh, part 279.

From DailyKos: Boss Limbaugh Strikes again
House Republican Minority Whip Eric Cantor tells the world that Limbaugh's ideas are “what I’m about” just five days after soundly rejecting Limbaugh on This Week with George Stephanopoulos.

Oh for Pete's freakin' sake. This is just getting sad now. Is there not a single conservative that has a pair of balls? Forget about our political disagreements, forget about all of that. I'm asking a serious question, are there no Republicans who actually own a pair of balls?

I mean other than Coulter.

Rush Limbaugh: Republican leader

From Politico : Steele to Rush: I'm Sorry

Not long ago, Michael Steele tried to assert that he was the leader of the RNC (a role which is supposed to be his) over Rush Limbaugh, a ... man... quickly becoming the voice of the current Republican party. What we've learned in this short time since this story first broke is both sad and mind-blowingly funny.

Rush Limbaugh is in fact the leader of the Republican party. The evidence is strong as Steele begs for his dark master's forgiveness for his error of daring to question the will of Jabba the Rush.
Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele says he has reached out to Rush Limbaugh to tell him he meant no offense when he referred to the popular conservative radio host as an “entertainer” whose show can be “incendiary.” “My intent was not to go after Rush – I have enormous respect for Rush Limbaugh,” Steele said in a telephone interview. “I was maybe a little bit inarticulate. … There was no attempt on my part to diminish his voice or his leadership.”
And Steele outright admits that Limbaugh's in control. The Republican party has completely abandoned the idea of a big tent, and instead opted for a circus tent.

Mike Pence: "Limbaugh Isn't Racist, No Matter How Many Times He's Shown Himself to Be One"

From Think Progress: Pence: ‘I Don’t Believe Rush Limbaugh Has A Racist Bone In His Body’
PENCE: I don’t believe Rush Limbaugh has a racist bone in his body. If you’re suggesting that his statement had a racist element in it, I commend you to a greater understanding of the positions he’s taken.
Really now, Rep. Pence? So you don't believe there's a racist bone in the body of the man who: That man, Rep. Pence, is not a racist in your eyes? If he isn't, Rep. Pence, then who in the Hell is? Are you that ignorant on matters of race, or are you just blinded to it because he's currently the most vocal conservative voice in the country?

I'm going to say what I say every time a story like this comes up: I did not vote for this man. I would never. That this man is so ignorant of even basic, easily-found facts, especially in this age of the ever-present Internet is frightening; that he is an elected official is galling; that he is essentially guaranteed a continual job because of the people in this area who would vote for him is a tragedy.

Walking on Hot Air

Just watched Dick Armey on Hardball.

God, someone shut this man up - a Limbaugh-fellating, misogynistic, hateful, self-important, dismissive asshole par excellence. Bob Herbert opened up in the next segment by telling Chris Matthews that Armey needed to apologize for his garbage.

I can see why. Personally, if that jackass never sees another moment in the spotlight, I'd be glad. We need fewer people like him pushing garbage like that.

The true meaning of "Reverse Racism".

From Faux News (STOP BOOING): Rush Limbaugh's Shocking Words for President Obama
You know, racism in this country is the exclusive problems of the left. We’re witnessing racism all this week that led up to the inauguration. We are being told that we have to hope he succeeds; that we have to bend over, grab the ankles, bend over forward, backward, whichever; because his father was black, because this is the first black president. We’ve got to accept this. The racism that everybody thinks exists on our side of the aisle has been on full display throughout their primary campaign. So I think they’ve done a great job, the media has, of covering up his deficiencies. He’s too big to fail, and so whatever goes wrong, blame it on Bush, blame it on… I mean, MSNBC’s new life will be criticizing you and me, because they can’t criticize him.

I... what? I'm trying to follow his logic, and the only conclusion I keep coming to is: I'm not a racist, you're all racists for voting for the black guy, who was obviously deficient.

You know, I hate the term reverse racism, because its fucking stupid. So I'm going to coin a new phrase, feel free to steal it, I won't mind.

rush⋅ism

–noun

1. the policy or doctrine of projecting your own racism; specifically, of believing that the advancement of a race other than your own being a result of racist actions.

example: "You gave that black guy a job? You only did that because you're a racist."

2. any phrase to spill forth from the lips of Rush Limbaugh. (see: racist idiot)

When the Mask Falls Off, Redux

Chris Matthews, leading into a commercial before covering El Rushbo's hope that President Obama fails: "Does Rush Limbaugh hate America?"

On the one hand, this may be the media finally feeling like it can speak out against the stone wall of right-wing hatred erected by folks like Rush the Comedian; on the other, it could very well be a way of ingratiating themselves as they did when Bush was in power. I should hope it's the former and not the latter - I don't think I could stand a media that remains as spineless and accomodating as before, just for someone else.

Rush Limbaugh, Meatspace Troll

From Media Matters for America: Limbaugh on Media Matters: "[Y]ou're going to have to learn not to be baited when I'm baiting you"
On the April 25 broadcast of his nationally syndicated radio show, host Rush Limbaugh again claimed that the "Media Matters people fell for it, and the drive-by media fell for it, and this is a perfect illustration of what I was talking about on that day," referring to his recent statement that Cho Seung-Hui, the Virginia Tech gunman, "had to be a liberal." Media Matters documented both Limbaugh's April 19 statement that Cho "had to be a liberal" and his subsequent observation that "[n]ow the drive-bys will read on a website that I'm attacking liberalism by comparing this guy to them" (Limbaugh regularly refers to mainstream media outlets as "the drive-by media"). On April 23, Limbaugh similarly claimed that "Media Matters fell for it hook, line, and sinker. They had it up all over the place," adding: "I was making a joke. ... Although I do believe that it was liberalism that got a hold of this guy and made him hate things, professors and this sort of thing."
First, he's flip-flopping so fast I swear he's going to wear a groove in his floor. Does he believe his bullshit statement about Cho "ha[ving] to be a liberal", or is it a joke? To make things worse, he's claiming it's a joke and saying he only said it to make Media Matters report on it. So he's admitting to be a meatspace troll, no better than folks like Fred Phelps. But this also means he doesn't believe the offensive garbage he spews, so why should his loyal wingnuts follow him?

Olbermann's right about this: Flush Limpballs is, at the end of a day, a really poor comedian, but a comedian nonetheless. No sane person would take the garbage he says seriously.

And remember, you can hear Limbaugh locally on 1190 AM WOWO, Ft. Wayne's home for insane right-wing shit.

Cheney: "Facts be damned"

From MSNBC: Cheney reasserts al-Qaida-Saddam connection
Vice President Dick Cheney repeated his assertions of al-Qaida links to Saddam Hussein’s Iraq on Thursday as the Defense Department released a report citing more evidence that the prewar government did not cooperate with the terrorist group.

Cheney contended that al-Qaida was operating in Iraq before the March 2003 invasion led by U.S. forces and that terrorist Abu Musab al-Zarqawi was leading the Iraqi branch of al-Qaida. Others in al-Qaida planned the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.

“He took up residence there before we ever launched into Iraq, organized the al-Qaida operations inside Iraq before we even arrived on the scene and then, of course, led the charge for Iraq until we killed him last June,” Cheney told radio host Rush Limbaugh during an interview. “As I say, they were present before we invaded Iraq.”
You know, he must be desperate to sell this war to the 30% if he's going to go against the facts that blatantly. Worse yet, he doesn't assert these lies in the real media, where there's even the slightest chance he might be told how much of a lying sack he is, just on right-wing shitholes like Flush Limpballs' show. The sad part? His "boss", Dubya, has already said that the Saddam-AQ link was bullshit.

Oh, and to steal a bit from Craig: You can hear Limbaugh's show locally on 1190 AM WOWO, Fort Wayne's home for deranged far-right garbage.

Rush Limbaugh's Crossdressing Fantasies

From Media Matters for America: Citing NY Sun, Limbaugh wondered who would design Edwards' "inaugural gown"
On the March 8 edition of his nationally syndicated radio show, Rush Limbaugh referred to a March 8 New York Sun article, "Could [former Sen.] John Edwards [D-NC] Become the First Woman President?" to repeatedly mock Edwards as "the Breck Girl," who is "on tap now, according to one of the nation's largest abortion rights supporters, to become the first woman president in the United States." As Media Matters for America has previously noted, the phrase "first woman president" was that of Sun reporter Josh Gerstein and not from any of the story's sources. Gerstein himself, in a post on the Sun's politics weblog, characterized the "first woman president" phrase as "just a colorful way of summarizing" the "over-the-top rhetoric" of Kate Michelman, former president of NARAL Pro-Choice America and a senior adviser to the Edwards campaign.

What a surprise - boy-touching pill-popper Rush Limpdick is cracking gay jokes, just like his man-wife C*nter.

My guess? He's jealous of John Edwards for being... well, something besides a fat, loud, stupid, drug-addled slob.
